Taylor Swift has had her fair share of unexpected headlines, but a potential legal deposition in a case between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni? That’s a new one.
Despite being mentioned in Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively, sources close to Swift say she’s not stressing over the situation.
“She’s a strong woman and she’s not hiding from anything,” an insider told Page Six. Instead of getting caught up in the drama, she’s enjoying some much-needed time away with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
So, how did Swift get dragged into this?
The legal dispute started when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment while working on It Ends With Us. Baldoni responded with a massive $400 million defamation suit, claiming Lively was trying to destroy his reputation.
Now, here’s where it gets messy. In Baldoni’s countersuit, he says Swift was present at a meeting in Lively’s New York City penthouse where the two actors discussed script changes. He also claims Lively referred to Swift (and husband Ryan Reynolds) as her “dragons” who help protect her in “battles.”
It’s not confirmed if Swift will actually be called to testify, but Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, hinted that it’s a possibility. “Anyone that reasonably has information that can provide evidence in this case is going to be deposed,” he said.
That’s still a far cry from Swift actually sitting for a deposition, but her name being attached to the case has certainly added another layer of intrigue.
Keeping her distance (and enjoying the offseason)
While the internet speculates, Swift isn’t making any public statements about the lawsuit. Instead, she’s been focused on spending time with Kelce after a whirlwind year.
The couple recently returned from an international getaway, which came after Kelce’s Super Bowl loss with the Kansas City Chiefs. They were also spotted in Park City, Utah, enjoying a quiet dinner date-proving they’re making the most of the NFL offseason.
