Prince Harry’s heartbreaking one-word remark after Princess Kate and William’s wedding

Prince Harry admitted to feeling a sense of sadness when his brother Prince William married Princess Kate in 2011.

The now Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot during a stunning ceremony at Westminster Abbey in April that year, with Harry alongside his brother as his best man.

But Harry said in his memoir Spare, published in January 2023, that William’s wedding was “yet another farewell under this horrid roof” and “another sundering.”

He wrote: “The brother I’d escorted into Westminster Abbey that morning was gone — forever. Who could deny it?

“He’d never again be first and foremost Willy. We’d never again ride together across the Lesotho countryside with capes blowing behind us. We’d never again share a horsey-smelling cottage while learning to fly. Who shall separate us? Life, that’s who.”
He continued, before providing a heartbreaking one-word sendoff for his brother: “And I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they’d pledged, I recall thinking: ‘Goodbye.’”

Harry and William’s relationship has deteriorated since he and his wife Meghan Markle decided to leave the Royal Family as full-time working members in 2020.

In his book Spare, Harry claimed he and his brother clashed during a conversation about Meghan back in 2019.

The Duke of Sussex alleged that his brother pushed him to the ground during the argument.
Since leaving the Firm, Harry has given a number of interviews where he spoke openly about his grievances.

In one interview with ITV journalist Tom Bradby, he said: “I want a family, not an institution. “I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”

William and Harry briefly reunited in late August as they both attended the funeral of their mother’s brother-in-law Lord Robert Fellowes.
The event was held at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk.

A churchwarden, who wished to remain unnamed, told the BBC: “It was wonderful that both princes were able to attend their uncle’s memorial service yesterday at St Mary’s Church.

“The service was a lovely family occasion celebrating the life of such a special man.

“Many friends were also present and also many members of the St Mary’s Church family.”
